Objective
The Student Dataviz Challenge invites students across Europe to use data visualization skills to tell a compelling story about a societal issue, putting classroom theory into practice for social good.
Description
About the Challenge
The Student Dataviz Challenge is a European student competition organized by EDHEC Business School that puts data visualization theory into practice for social good. Participants use open data and any software of their choice (Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Python, etc.) to build a data visualization that communicates about a societal issue.
Who can participate
- Open to students currently enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited academic institution in Europe at the time of submission
- Teams of up to 3 people are encouraged, with the option to involve a professor or mentor
Format
- Step 1: Sign up to receive updates and tips
- Step 2: Produce a data visualization
- Step 3: Create a video explaining the visualization
- The top 8 entries advance to the final in Paris, where each team pitches for 10 minutes to a panel of judges and partners
Note
The Challenge did not take place in 2025; EDHEC has announced it is preparing a new edition for 2026, with further details to be announced.
