The competition invites graduate students to develop strategic, investable solutions to pressing issues in the energy sector, including rising electricity demand and decarbonization, while engaging with industry leaders and investors.
Description
Overview
The Rice Business Energy Case Competition (formerly the Rice Cleantech Innovation Competition, RCIC) is a student-led case competition hosted by the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University. It brings together graduate students from across the U.S. and internationally to propose solutions to pressing cleantech, energy and decarbonization challenges.
Eligibility and Teams
- Open to graduate students, with teams of 4 to 5 members
- At least three team members must be currently enrolled MBA students
- International universities may participate
Format
- Round 1: virtual submission of presentation materials
- Top 5 scoring teams advance to Round 2
- Round 2: in-person 25 minute presentation followed by a 15 minute Q&A with a judging panel at Rice University
- Winners announced during an award ceremony as part of the Rice Energy & Finance Summit (REFS)
Notable Details
- Finalists gain access to networking with industry leaders and investors
- Travel and visa arrangements, as well as any tax implications of cash prizes, are the responsibility of participating teams
