Penn State Health Policy and Administration Virtual Case Competition
Objective
The competition gives students from health administration, health policy, public health, and related programs the chance to solve a real healthcare challenge and present recommendations to industry judges. It is designed to build case analysis, teamwork, presentation, and leadership skills while allowing Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center to use proposed solutions to benefit the communities it serves.

Overview
The Penn State Health Policy and Administration (HPA) Virtual Case Competition is hosted by the Penn State Department of Health Policy and Administration and sponsored by Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Teams from any university tackle a current healthcare challenge, with the sponsoring health system using proposed solutions to benefit the communities it serves.
Format
- Fully virtual competition
- Teams of 3 to 4 students (option for 3 presenters plus one non-participating observer)
- Two competition categories: Residential/Online Undergraduate Health Policy and Administration (or related program) and Residential/Online Master of Health Administration (or related program)
- Field limited to 40 graduate teams and 20 undergraduate teams
Eligibility
Open to students from any university enrolled in health administration, health policy, public health, or related programs.
Notable Details
- Cost-effective, no-travel format allowing students nationwide to compete
- Judges are healthcare professionals, many of them alumni of the Penn State HPA program
- Preliminary rounds judged by industry professionals, with final round judged by Hershey Medical Center leadership
