Objective
The MECC is designed to help college students worldwide develop and showcase their Excel and logical-thinking skills through monthly challenges and online/in-person competitions, preparing them for careers in finance, data analysis, and business modeling.

Overview
The Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge (MECC) is a global Excel esports and skill-building program for college and university students, jointly organized by the Eller College of Management and the Financial Modeling World Cup (FMWC).
Who Can Participate
- Current college and university students worldwide
- Open to individuals or teams (team competitions typically involve groups of students representing their school)
Format
- Non-competitive monthly Challenges to build Excel skills (personal finance, keyboard shortcuts, data modeling, etc.)
- Online Competitions where students solve timed, case-study based Excel Esports problems (Junior Varsity and Varsity difficulty levels)
- Regional in-person events hosted with partner universities
- Season culminates in the MECC Championships, an in-person finals event in Las Vegas featuring both Individual and Team Championships, alongside the Microsoft Excel World Championship (MEWC) and a Last Chance Qualification Round
Notable Details
- Season runs across Spring and Fall terms each year
- Finalists compete at the HyperX Esports Arena, Luxor Hotel, Las Vegas, as part of The Active Cell Training Camp
- Top performers can also qualify for the Microsoft Excel World Championship (MEWC)
