About the Competition
The Humana-Mays Healthcare Analytics Case Competition is an annual case competition presented by Mays Business School at Texas A&M University in partnership with Humana Inc.
Who Can Participate
- Open to all accredited educational institutions in the United States
- Full-time and part-time graduate students from AACSB-accredited Master of Science, Master of Arts, Master of Information Systems, Master of Public Health, Master of Business Administration, or similar master's programs in business, healthcare, or analytics
Team Composition
- Teams of two to four students from the same university
Format
- The competition uses real Humana member data and an intentionally ambiguous business topic designed to mimic real-world problems
- Multiple rounds narrow the field to a small group of finalists who present to an executive panel of judges
- Teams are judged on quantitative analysis, professionalism, data visualization and presentation skills, and the ability to provide meaningful implications and recommendations
Notable Details
- The competition has grown into one of the top healthcare analytics case competitions in the country, drawing hundreds of master's-level students from dozens of universities each year
- Past finals have been held both virtually and in person
