The Public Relations & Earned Media Specialist is a self-motivated professional who prioritizes building meaningful relationships with consumer and trade media on behalf of the brand. The Specialist works closely with the marketing and product development teams to help generate proactive media engagement, highlighting key news around YETI and its products. The Specialist also manages reactive media requests. This individual has a strong understanding of the Canadian media landscape, media relations, and all facets of media engagement to ensure high quality press coverage for YETI.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and support Canadian media relations, both proactive or reactive, including mainstream media and endemic, as well as foster key industry and influencer relationships, relevant influencer partnerships within the Canadian market
  • Track project progress, proactively identify risks or blockers, and implement solutions to ensure successful delivery
  • Support the development of proactive PR plans covering consumer campaigns, news generation and product placement for Canada
  • Develop and maintain a seasonal pitch calendar, develop press materials, and conduct ongoing proactive outreach to media contacts
  • Support ideation around creative mailers, and oversee the process through to distribution, follow-ups and coverage tracking
  • Secure proactive and reactive product seeding opportunities 
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders 
  • Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges, escalating non‑routine issues when appropriate
  • Assist in planning and executing press trips and excursions, including on-site support
  • Manage coverage tracking and support reporting, applying analytical skills to ensure accuracy and insight.
  • Proactively champion and communicate market nuances and local/cultural variances to internal stakeholders
  • Maintain organized project documentation, including timelines, status updates, and post-campaign recaps

Qualifications & Attributes 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma required in Communications, Marketing, and/or Public Relations
  • Strong preference for bilingual (English and French) candidates
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of professional experience, agency preferred
  • Experience in developing, with oversight, a range of PR materials (messaging documents/talking points, pitches, fact sheets, alerts, etc.)
  • Proven experience managing multiple concurrent projects in a fast‑paced environment, with strong prioritization and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize, set and meet goals with both internal teams cross functionally and our 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Maintains a clean and valid G license 
  • Ability to lift 50+lbs at a time

Pay Range:

$50,400.00 - $65,000.00 Annual CAD

Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
